Diane Langevin launched Signature Interiors in the fall of 2007 with a clear vision—to help people create the relaxing, revitalizing, and peaceful space they envision and bring their signature style home. Incorporating years of design experience, a special understanding of historic preservation, a diverse academic background, and an undying love for color, Diane’s re-design style brings a fresh approach to home owners, buyers, and sellers in Vermont and the region.
It’s Diane’s fascination with, and understanding of, space, shape, and color and her ability to match the needs and wishes of a client that exemplify her true talents. “There is a creative force within everyone and drawing those energies into the design of someone’s own space is exhilarating and joyous,” she says. “I look at design as fitting together puzzle pieces to rearrange the flow of a room while complementing personal style and expression.”
Diane’s desire to start Signature Interiors resulted from a background rich in history and design. She studied American History and culture at Skidmore College and graduated in 1996 with a BA in American Studies. In addition, she completed course work at the New York School of Interior Design in New York City. Before moving to Vermont, she worked as an interior decorator in the metropolitan New York area, and her decorating experience spans 1840s southern plantations, Victorian homes, pre-war New York City apartments, and 1940s Vermont summer camps, just to name a few. In fact, it’s these types of interior decorating projects for which Diane has a particular passion, and this experience has allowed her to add “historic preservation” to her list of services. It’s here that she puts her eclectic background in American studies and her expertise in antiques (she earned a Certificate in Antiques from Parsons School of Design in New York City) to work, bringing new life to historic spaces while maintaining their historical integrity and uniqueness. “I have a knack for blending antiques with contemporary design, marrying 21st century conveniences with the history and existing integrity of the space.”
Diane’s deep passion for interior design has also led her to become a highly sought after home stager. She is an accredited staging professional and works closely with home sellers to prepare their homes for the best presentation within the real estate market.
Born and raised in southern Missouri, Diane has spent all of her adult life on the East Coast. She moved to Vermont in the ’90s and now proudly calls it home. In addition to her passion for helping people with home design and decorating solutions, in her free time, Diane enjoys reading, antiquing, boating, canoeing, and floral design.
